Recently, I found myself out by 38 State Brewing in the Southern suburbs of Denver where a friend of mine encouraged me to check out a brewery called Blue Spruce Brewing Company. After hearing his suggestion I thought, “Well, when in the city of Centennial one is bound to need a beer!” And that’s true. The solid and tangible truths in life seem to be dwindling away but that is one. It’s also consistent with the idea that it doesn’t matter what particular city, town, province or municipal principality that you are presently in – wherever you reside is infinitely more pleasant and livable when there is a delicious hand-craft beer cooling your palm and fingers.

Blue Spruce Brewing is tucked away in a strip mall type area with a large covered patio on the front. The spot was cozy and relatively peaceful and it fits with their part of the ever-expanding city. The day was mild in nature. The sun was shining. The gods were probably relaxing on a nice patio drinking a beer like the folks we saw.

Zach and I went inside and posted up with enthusiasm. He recommended the Poncha Pass Pecan Pie Brown. I did just that and paired it with a chicken quesadilla. Neither disappointed one bit. With the Pecan Pie Brown, I would’ve expected a dessert beer but it was much more balanced than that and I could see myself getting down on a few and calling an Uber to drive me home for $60. These Things Happen.

We talked about the election and all the madness within and how America is in a race to the bottom. We’re on a fast track to some sort of philosophical doom and either way, the sadness Mariana Trench deep. But I doubt much will change and I will still be able to enjoy a beer out in Centennial, Colorado no matter who gets elected President. In the midst of our conversation, I decided on to Frankie’s Vanilla Porter. Again, it was delicious, good spacing between the chocolate and vanilla notes. My god, it’s nice to live in America. We are spoiled as all hell, for now.

There was friendly neighborhood vibe to the Blue Spruce Brewing Company. Kids were running around. People were happy. We went during the afternoon so we didn’t see any live music but apparently it happens every night. That’s a damn good thing, damn good.

It didn’t take long and I knew that my adventure needed to come to an end. I was a long way from home and the hustle and bustle of Denver life called my name. In more relaxed times I may have stayed a while, drank heavily, and sang along to a local band’s music to my heart’s content. But not every moment happens so easy in this modern world. Do yourself a favor and head to Centennial, Colorado to check out to Blue Spruce Brewing and try a pint.
