The Denver Hopper

A Thank You Letter to The Denver Hoppers

As I peek through the shutters into 2018 – a year that seemed impossibly far in the future when I was in high school, madly in love and slowly breaking down the rules my parents made for me – I am compelled to say thank you for reading The Denver Hopper. I am extremely hungover at the moment and it’s been a hell of a year. Hence, why I am hungover.

The Denver Hopper is transitioning into a meaningful space. It’s wonderful. Denver is my home and I am grateful to showcase it in any way possible. Doing it through writing makes it all the more special. I love this shit. Writing heals me. It’s the form I crawl into like a cocoon. And maybe I’ll be a butterfly one day. For now, I’m just a drunk trying to exercise the demons on a treadmill of words. But there is something happening here. I can feel it. What that something is…well, I guess we wait and see.

I know for sure that I am not writing into a vacuum anymore. I understand more about beer than I ever thought I would. I am meeting interesting and driven folks that are incredibly generous with their time. They are wildly passionate about what they do. It’s inspiring to see these entrepreneurs say, “Fuck the Man” and live life on their own terms.

I admire people that fight for their own place in this world. They play their own personal game of king of the mountain and plant that goddamn flag in the ground and own the world they create. They don’t go with the flow or “fit in”. It’s counterculture. It’s Colorado. And that is the Brewing industry. I fucking love it. Thanks to all the people in the brewing industry that I have met and thanks for sharing your passion with me.

With all that in mind, I think 2018 is looking pretty sweet. We will be adding writers and more content for you to enjoy. I still have 250+ breweries to go through. Poor me. I am excited about what the future holds. It looks good for us, Hoppers. I hope you have above average year. And it would be really cool if you continue to read our little website and visit all these fine brewing establishments. So, have a safe and formidable journey through the next year. Be safe and have fun and drink good beer. Cheers!
